I saw something like this on a blog one day and wanted to make one. I even had all the pieces, a leftover piece of beadboard from another craft I'd made. A square piece of metal from who knows where, but it's been hanging around for years just waiting for me to do something with it. The ribbon and jute was apart of my thrift store grab bag and the flower was one from a batch I won on a craft blog last summer. I glued some vintage buttons on some magnets I had. I all I need is to still hook a clip on top to hold letters to be mailed. The whole thing cost me next to nothing and now gives me a place to put the things I need to remember before I walk out the door. Perfect.
